Jain demands the release of ‘Land Mafia List’ and strict action against those named

Chandigarh : Sanjay Pahwa :
Mr. Satya Pal Jain, Ex-MP and All India Incharge of the Legal and Legislative Cell of the BJP, has demanded that the list of the Land Mafia operating in Chandigarh as well as labour colonies, as revealed by former Governor Gen. Rodrigues in his statement published in a hindi newspaper today, should be made public.
He said that Gen. Rodrigues has publically stated that the Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister was also giving shelter to the land mafia in Chandigarh as well as labour colonies. The fact that Gen. Rodrigues wrote four letters to the Union Government regarding the land mafia operating in Chandigarh, naming the present Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister as well, but no action was taken on it by the government, is very serious. He also said that the revelation made by Gen. Rodrigues that the present Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister pressurized him to allot a 6 acre plot in Sector 40-D, originally meant for construction of a Janj Ghar, to be handed over to the Minister for constructing a hostel for the School run by his family, is also very serious. He said that all these allegations are very serious in nature and call for thorough criminal investigation.
Mr Jain said that strict action should be taken against all those involved in this scandal, which is a fraud on the public money, irrespective of whether they belong to one party or the other.
Mr. Jain said that Chandigarh, being a Union Territory, is directly under the control of the Union Government, especially the Union Home Ministry. He said that all these corruption scandals have taken place during the tenure when the present Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister has been the Local Member of Parliament. During the last 6-7 years, it is the Congress which is ruling in Chandigarh as well as at the centre. Therefore, all involved in the scandal and all those who were and who are in power during these years, cannot escape their responsibility for these scandals. He demanded strict action against all guilty.
