Chandigarh Traffic Police has started special road safety awareness campaign on lane driving in the city w.e.f. 4.3.2011 to educate the general public on lane driving and lane discipline on road on different crossings/roundabouts. This drive is continuing.
Chandigarh Traffic Police has requested the U.T. Engineering Department for marking of designated lanes for each category of traffic on main roads in UT Chandigarh. The work for marking of designated lanes has been started and marking of designated lane on the following crossings/roundabouts have been provided to aware the general public about lane discipline. The designated lanes will be provided on all major crossings/roundabouts by the UT Engineering Department and work is in progress:-
i. Matka Chowk
ii. Old Barricade Chowk
Chandigarh Traffic Police appeals to the motorists to obey the Lane Discipline on road and always choose right lane designated on each category of traffic on city roads for smooth flow of traffic in the city.
