SAHAYTA SOCIETY ORGANIZES CANCER SURVIVORS DAY -2011

Cancer Survivors’ Day was celebrated here today in the “Govt. Home Science College, Sector -10 Chandigarh this afternoon. Cancer Survivors began the function with prayer to the Almighty for strength and vigor to follow the path of righteousness.
Dance by cancer afflicted children changed the somber mood. Our survivors staged a play "Pani--Pani" telling us the struggle which the patient has to face with the society as well fighting with the disease. These survivors are really special. Their exuberance, positive attitude and professionalism impressed one and all. Professor. Anupam Sachdev delivered a very informative talk on STEM CELL TRANSPLANT.
Sahayta President, Renu Saigal, presented the annual report. Tribute was paid to Mrs.Neelu Tuli our founder president whom we lost to cancer on 26th Oct 2006.
The Chief Guest Mrs. Navraj Sandhu (IAS) Principal Secretary, Food & Supplies Haryana, lauded the efforts of sahayta volunteers and congratulated them for taking steps for early detection and cancer awareness by holding camps in colonies and Chandigarh periphery. .
To honour the Survivors Jeevan Shakti award, Bal Jeevan Shakti Award were given. The Sahayta Supporters gave away Jeevan Sahayta and Jeevan Sahara Awards to needy and deserving persons. Mementos were given to our supporters.
Eminent doctors From PGI, GMCH, Cancer Survivors, Sahayta Volunteers, Patients And their families attended the function.
The function concluded with re-afirmation by all sahayta volunteers- Hum Honge Kamyab Ek Din.
