CM CALLS UPON MEDIA TO PLAY A CONSTRUCTIVE ROLE

Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal called upon the media to play a constructive role in the process of nation building. Presiding over an installation ceremony of the newly elected team of the press club for 2011, Mr. Badal wished all the office bearers of the new team a happy and a meaningful term. Lauding the role of media in exposing the recent scams of Common Wealth Games, Adarsh Housing, 2G Spectrum etc., Mr. Badal further asked the media persons to perform their duties with far more dedications, sincerity and professional commitment. He said press being the forth pillar of the democracy had an added responsibility to expose the scandals and scams prevailing in the society. Showing deep concern over the ramped corruption in the prevailing system, Mr. Badal urged the media to play a pro active role in bringing awareness amongst the people about their rights and duties in the society. He how ever said that media should also focus on the development activities aimed at the welfare of the people rather highlighting the in significant events.

On the occasion the Chief Minister also presented memento to the office bearers of the newly elected and outgoing team. Prominent among other who were present on the occasion included president of the press club Naveen S Grewal and Secretary General Nalin Acharya.
