SUKHBIR ORDERS REGISTERATION OF CRIMINAL CASE AGAINST SP, SUB INSPECTOR FOR OUTRAGING TURBAN

CHANDIGARH ,Sanjay Pahwa :
The Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal today ordered the registration of a criminal case against the two police officials involved in an incident of disrespect shown to the turban of a Sikh agitator in SAS Nagar (Mohali) last week.
A case under section 295-A (causing hurt to religious sentiments) has been ordered to be registered against Superintendent of Police, Pritam Singh and Sub Inspector Kulbhushn Sharma. It may be recalled that the Deputy Chief Minister, who holds the Home portfolio also, had ordered the immediate suspension of and a magisterial inquiry against the erring officials within seconds of learning about the incident.
The inquiry was conducted by Mr. M S Kainth, I AS, Additional Deputy Commissioner and submitted to the Principal Secretary (Home) Mr. D S Bains. The PSH, after considering all facts and going through the video footage of the incident on the Youtube, recommended stern action against the concerned officials.
In a statement, Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal said that the government can not allow anyone, no matter how high, to show disrespect to the religious symbols of any community or hurt the religious sentiments of anyone.
